Personal Profile
Stuart has over 20 years’ experience in construction engineering, modularisation, lifting and heavy transport. Stuart has extensive experience covering heavy lift, structural, civil and project engineering and has worked across a wide range of projects. Stuart is the Principal of Edwards Heavy Lift which is part of the wider Greg Alderson & Associates group.
Prior to starting Edwards Heavy Lift, Stuart held various roles within the temporary works and construction methodology team John Holland’s Specialist Engineering business including leading John Holland’s team of Heavy Lift Specialists and Engineers. The team delivers engineering expertise for lift and logistical methodologies including temporary works design and construction methodology, lift plan development and vetting and heavy lift supervision. Stuart was instrumental in the development of key innovations within John Holland, developing industry leading systems and procedures which also included an automated lift planning tool and Lift Designer training package as part of John Holland’s G6 Safety Management initiative.
Prior to that he was the Engineering Manager (QLD) for Boom Logistics, which at the time was Australia’s largest crane hire company. In this position, Stuart was responsible for leading a team delivering project engineering, operational delivery and business development. Other roles during his tenure at this organisation included Safety, Quality and Training Manager and Project Engineer. In addition, Stuart has held a number of roles, Construction Engineer for VicRoads, and Civil Engineer (Land Development) with Tomkinson.
Stuart holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering (First Class Honours) and a Bachelor of Business in Business Administration (with Distinction) from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology.
